Have you been wanting to improve your smile or correct your bite but you have no interest in having braces? Do you want to stop wearing your teeth down due to grinding them at night while you sleep? Many adults had braces as a kid and didn't wear their retainer causing teeth to shift and get crowded again but don't want to relive that adolescent braces experience again. Maybe you have a child that wants or needs orthodontic treatment but really does not want that braces look or feel. Some kids are looking for options other than traditional braces due to concerns about appearance, comfort, sensory issues, and extracurricular activities such as sports or band.
Invisalign® treatment may be the right treatment option for you or your child! Rapid advances in digital 3D scanning and printing technology along with Invisalign® advances in aligner technology make it possible to comfortably and predictably straighten teeth and correct bites using a series of clear comfortable plastic aligners.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign® is an alternative method to straighten teeth that does not require braces or wires. A series of plastic aligners are worn approximately 22 hours per day and through light pressure on the teeth they gradually move teeth into the proper position. Aligners are typically changed out to the next one in the series every 2 weeks with each aligner moving your teeth a little closer to the final goal of straight teeth and a perfect bite!
In addition to aligners Dr. Seth and his team will place attachments on the surface of some of your teeth so the aligners can have “handle” to push your teeth into place. Attachments are small 3D shapes made of composite, the same material used for white fillings, that are placed at the beginning of Invisalign® treatment and removed once treatment is complete. Invisalign® software designs the specific shape and size of these tooth colored attachments to accomplish the exact movement Dr. Seth requests to get you the smile you want, pretty amazing technology right? Although there are
many imitators making plastic aligners out there Invisalign® is light years ahead of the competition, this means better results in less time than other aligners.
All you have to do is wear your aligners and watch your smile improve every day!
It starts with your free consultation at Senestraro Family Orthodontics where Dr. Seth will work with you to create a treatment plan that meets your goals and takes your preferences into account. Due to advances in Invisalign® technology and Dr. Seth's expertise in using aligners to create

You may have noticed everybody is offering Invisalign®, many dentists offer aligner treatment and you can even get aligners in the mail. Predictably getting excellent results with aligners requires proper training only orthodontic specialists have. Once you have decided Invisalign® is the right option for you we simply take a digital scan of your teeth and bite with our state of the art ITero digital scanner. The scan automatically sends to the Invisalign® site and Dr. Seth can move all of your teeth to the ideal position using a 3D virtual model that is an exact replica of your teeth. Once your teeth are perfect on the virtual 3D model Invisalign® manufactures and ships a series of aligners that will get your teeth from where they are to the final result!
Advantages of Invisalign
Invisalign® has many advantages over traditional braces. The most obvious advantage is that they are virtually invisible! You can straighten your teeth and no one will ever know, you can take photos and interact socially without the appearance of braces. Aligners are much more comfortable than braces, although you adapt quickly to the feel of braces aligners are generally cause less irritation. They also move teeth more gradually than braces reducing tooth soreness in comparison with braces. Invisalign® aligners also make brushing your teeth much easier than if you have braces, you just pop out your aligner and brush and floss like normal. If you grind your teeth aligners protect them! They act very much like a night guard protecting your teeth while you are in treatment. Some teens prefer aligners if they play contact sports or play an instrument.
As with anything Invisalign® has some disadvantages as well. One downside is that aligners require patient compliance, some patients are not able to get the 22 hours per day of wear required. If you don't think you or your teen can remember to wear the aligners then Invisalign® is probably not the best choice. For some very difficult cases aligners may not be the best choice as they have limitations on how much bite correction and tooth movement they can achieve. Make sure you get a consultation from an orthodontist so you can understand all your options including Invisalign®.
WHO SHOULD BE DOING MY INVISALIGN TREATMENT?
It is highly recommended that an orthodontist provide your Invisalign® treatment! Orthodontists are dentists who go through an additional 2-3 years of full time residency training in addition to dental training to learn how to diagnose, treatment plan, and correct orthodontic issues. Although dentists can provide orthodontic treatment with Invisalign® or braces the level of training and experience is significantly less than that of a specialist in orthodontics. Additionally, in an orthodontic office everything is focused on providing the best Invisalign® experience possible for you and your child. With flexible payment options and cost treatment can be more affordable in orthodontic offices as well. For the best results and experience choose an orthodontist to provide your Invisalign® treatment.
Thinking about do it yourself orthodontics with clear aligners? Just mail in your impression and photos and get aligners to straighten your teeth, easy right? While a very small percentage of cases can be treated effectively with do it yourself aligners they are ineffective for many. How do you know if you are part of that small group of people that can use do it yourself aligners. I wouldn't rely on the company selling these aligners to tell you. We highly recommend you see an orthodontist for a free consultation and ask if you are one of the few good candidates for do it yourself aligners, here's why!
