How Braces Can Fix Your Teeth

Braces are a set of brackets each one customed designed for a specific tooth in your mouth and placed on your teeth. The brackets are glued to your teeth using a dental adhesive. A series of flexible and comfortable high tech wires are then placed into the brackets at your appointments. The wires are held in place by small elastic ties, this is where the colors on your braces come from! The wires apply light pressure on your teeth and in response they move through your natural biological response to straighten out your teeth and correct your bite. Your orthodontist should do an examination to determine a customized plan to straighten your teeth. After you get braces on, you return to the orthodontist about every other month so that the orthodontist can make adjustments to the wires or place new wires on your teeth. The wires and brackets gradually move your teeth gradually over time so that it is less painful.

Over the course of treatment, braces are highly effective at fixing teeth and results are stable for the long term if retainers are worn as directed. For most adults being treated by an orthodontist, braces can move and straighten teeth permanently, imagine an amazing smile you get to keep forever! Braces not only make your teeth look better, but braces can also improve your chewing capabilities, or fix that jaw pain you've been having for years. Braces can also make it easier to brush and floss your teeth by eliminating tooth crowding.
